Terms of Service

1. About Hugin Design

Welcome to Hugin Design. This website and online store are operated by Taido Pty Ltd, trading as Hugin Design, in Sydney, Australia. By browsing our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service to the extent permitted by applicable law.

If you have any questions before ordering, please contact us at info@hugindesign.com.au.

2. Our products

We create and sell handmade wooden cutting boards and accessories, leather goods and selected printed merchandise. Many items are made to order, and some products offer choices of timber, leather, colour, hardware, dimensions or other options.

We aim to describe our products accurately. Natural timber grain, leather texture and colour variation mean that the piece you receive may differ slightly from example photographs. Such natural differences are not necessarily defects, but nothing in these terms limits your rights if a product is faulty, materially different from its description or otherwise fails to meet applicable consumer guarantees.

Product dimensions, available options, making times and care requirements are described on the relevant product page. Please check these details before ordering and contact us about any special requirements.

3. Prices and payment

Product prices are displayed in the currency shown at checkout. For Australian customers, prices are generally displayed in Australian dollars (AUD), including applicable GST where required. Any delivery charges and other amounts collected by us are shown during checkout or in an agreed individual quotation before payment.

Payment is processed through the payment services available in our Shopify checkout. We do not ask customers to send credit-card details by email.

We may contact you if there is an obvious pricing error, unavailable option or other issue that prevents us from fulfilling an order as presented. If we cannot proceed with a paid order, we will discuss the options with you and provide any refund due under applicable law.

4. Made-to-order and custom work

Many Hugin Design goods are individually made or finished following an order. Production estimates are provided for guidance and can vary with design complexity, materials and workload. If a significant delay arises, we will contact you to discuss the next steps and any rights you have under applicable law.

For custom or personalised orders, we may confirm specifications and pricing separately before production begins. Please check agreed details carefully. If you need to request a change or cancellation, contact us promptly; what can be accommodated depends on the stage of production and your applicable legal rights.

5. Shipping and delivery

Products are shipped from Sydney, Australia. Available delivery methods and charges depend on the items ordered and their destination. Certain international destinations, multiple cutting-board orders and printed merchandise may require an individual shipping quotation instead of an automatic checkout rate.

Read our Shipping & International Delivery page for current arrangements. Making time is separate from shipping transit time, and estimated delivery dates are not guaranteed. Your statutory rights regarding delivery remain unaffected.

International shipments may be subject to customs duties, import taxes and clearance charges. Unless your checkout or written quotation expressly confirms that these charges are included and prepaid, the recipient is responsible for any amounts assessed on import. We will confirm any special US import-duty arrangements before accepting a US order.

6. Returns, refunds and guarantees

We do not generally offer change-of-mind returns, particularly for made-to-order, personalised or custom items. Please read our Returns & Refunds policy for the process and available remedies if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.

Our eligible handmade wooden and leather products also include a voluntary five-year craftsmanship guarantee, which is additional to your legal rights. The guarantee does not apply to Taido printed merchandise, although those goods still have applicable statutory consumer protections.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Product care and safe use

We provide product descriptions and care information to help you maintain your purchase. Wooden cutting boards, leather goods and printed textiles each require appropriate care. Please follow any supplied instructions and use products only for their intended purposes.

8. Website information and availability

We aim to keep product descriptions, pricing, stock availability and website information up to date, but occasional errors or interruptions can occur. We may correct inaccurate information and update the store as necessary. Changes to website content do not retrospectively remove rights relating to an order already accepted.

Our site may include links to third-party websites or services. We do not control their content or privacy practices, and their separate terms may apply.

9. Intellectual property

Hugin Design branding, original website copy and photography, and other materials owned by us may not be reproduced commercially without permission. Some artwork and product designs displayed on our site are created by third-party designers; their intellectual-property rights remain with the respective owners. Purchasing a product does not grant rights to reproduce any associated artwork or design.

10. Responsible use of the website

Please do not misuse the site, interfere with its security or operation, upload malicious material, or use it for unlawful activity. We may take reasonable measures to protect our store and customers, subject to applicable law.

11. Applicable law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, subject to any mandatory consumer protection laws that apply to your order or location. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

12. Updates and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms applicable to an order are those in effect when that order is placed, subject to applicable law. The date at the top indicates when this page was last revised.

For questions about these terms or an order, please email info@hugindesign.com.au.
